The association has been created by Juliette Araujo and Serge De Deus, both students and a former Portuguese reader at Marc Bloc University, Isabelle Oliveira. The three
of them had realized that in spite of a great amount of Portuguese speakers and learners; Portuguese was not one of the most important languages taught amongst
the universities of Strasbourg.
As a matter of fact, within the Deparment of Iberico and Latino-Americain Studies of Marc Bloch University, Portuguese is just taught in a simple
Diplôme Universitaire, a degree only recognized in Alsace. Yet, a lot of students, Portuguese speakers or not, show a real interest in the Portuguese culture and
therefore, they would like to start again learning the latin language or improve it. Furthermore, the recent success encountered with the Brazil Year demonstrated that
a lot of people are really interested in the Brazilian culture, in all its aspects.
Therefore, we, students of March Bloch, Louis Pasteur and Robert Schumann Universities,
decided to gather and join forces to carry this project of an association that would
promote Portuguese, to a successful conclusion.
